*Greek/Latin Root vocabulary packet: Students will be given a packet every Friday that includes 10 vocabulary words which are based on greek and latin roots. Packets are due a week later. Students will be given a comprehension test each week on Fridays which tests their knowledge on all 10 words. We will switch to a more complex vocabulary packet halfway through the year.
*Reading Log: Students will be given a reading log every Monday. They will fill out their schedules for the week during the morning routine which will help them better determine what days will work best for them to read. Students will also be deciding the amount of minutes they read each week. We encourage students to read 30 minutes per weekday or approximately 2 1/2 hours per week. On the back of the reading log, there are 1-2 questions pertaining to the skill we are learning that week in WGR. Students will also be encouraged to read non-fiction for one of their days (most weeks students will be given a non-fiction magazine they can read for one of their days).
*Friday Folder: Each Friday, students will be given their red Friday Folder. They are expected to bring all their mail for the week home in this folder, have their parents look through it, and check over their reading log. They then bring their emptied Friday Folder back on Monday with a parent signature and a completed reading log.
